We finally delivered our care packages!

As followers of KWFC will know, we held our hugely successful fundraising event ‘Woodhouse to Wembley’ over the last weekend of February and first weekend of March this year with each of our 31 players walking 11-miles of a virtual relay between Kirkby Woodhouse and Wembley Stadium.

Our intention had always been to split the funds raised between local good causes and our football club.

After smashing through our target of £1,000, we eventually went on to raise £4,155 which was a truly incredible effort.

That enabled us to support more local good causes and in recent weeks we have made donations of £250 each to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and our local Community Foodbank at St Johns Church for Annesley and Kirkby Woodhouse.

It’s been brilliant to support those charities on the back of our fundraising success, but our intention was always to do something nice for some more of our local heroes.

To say the last 12 months has been challenging would be something of an understatement. There have been many people doing extraordinary things to keep us safe during the COVID pandemic.
One team who have been simply outstanding are the NHS heroes up and down the country so all of us at KWFC wanted to do something nice to say thank you to some of our local NHS staff.

Using the funds raised, we have created 60 fantastic care packages. The packs include moisturisers, hand creams, show gels, bath bombs, face masks, foot packs and other goodies that might just help some of the staff be able to relax after a hard day on the wards looking after the local community.

We were delighted to be able to visit the hospital this evening and present the care packages to a handful of the incredible staff who have been working harder than ever in recent times to look after all of us.

Pictured are a number of staff from the wonderful team at Kings Mill Hospital who will be amongst those receiving the packs across several different units along with KWFC Vice Chairman Damon Giles, our Treasurer and co-founder of the club, Rachel Giles who did an amazing job in putting the packages together, along with Jack from our U11s and Sam from our U9s.

Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to our Woodhouse to Wembley fundraiser and made this possible.

To our NHS staff, on behalf of everyone at Kirkby Woodhouse Football Club, “THANK YOU
