U9s and U11s finish as League Runners Up

The curtain came down on the competitive section of the Kickstart season today and our teams at all 3 age groups headed into the weekend with the chance of being champions of their respective age groups.

Our U8s were actually already over the line but were seeking to finish the competitive section of games with a 100% record. In a tight game with our near neighbours from Quarrydale, our young Swifts came out on top to finish the season as league champions and an unblemished record to do it in style.

Our U9s were relying on a result from elsewhere to keep their title ambitions alive but unfortunately for us, Chesterfield already had the league wrapped up before we kicked off against Barlborough. That knocked the wind out of our sails a little bit and we went into half time of our game 2-0 down.
The boys showed great spirit though to fight back to 2-2 and finished the season as League runners up. Another really good season for this team who have had a very successful first three seasons.

The U11s were another of our teams to carry a 100% record into the final game of the season. Coming up against our old rivals Kirkby Colts, we needed just a point to seal the deal with Colts being the only team who could still deny us.
It was a tight game right until the dying stages and then with just 8 minutes to go Colts took the lead. That goals was like a dagger to the heart of our boys and a second soon afterwards completely knocked the stuffing out of us. As we threw everything forward in the last minute Colts scored a deserved third to claim the title for themselves leaving our oldest Swifts just 1 point off the league title and settling for the position of League Runners Up.

Our boys at all three age groups have had an excellent season and worked incredibly hard through the lockdown to keep in touch with one another and maintain their fitness and enthusiasm.

We're incredibly proud of all 3 teams.

However, it's right that we allow our U8s to take the applause today. They've had a tremendous season and have won their league title in style.
A perfect way for the boys to round off their 5v5 football and we look forward to their progress as they step up to 7v7 next season.

Congratulations boys. Enjoy the champagne!
