The sun shone as our boys got their walking boots on!

Planning our Woodhouse to Wembley fundraiser presented multiple challenges - none more so than trying to create an event which could engage everyone but be carried out safely under the current Government lockdown restrictions.

One thing completely out of our control was the weather so imagine our delight to wake up to brilliant sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday as we got our walking boots on and started clocking up the miles.

We never cease to be amazed by the generous support of the local community when it comes to getting behind our fundraising events and with our Woodhouse to Wembley campaign being about raising funds, not only for our club, but a local good cause too - this just feels even more special.

The boys have all been filling up their sponsorship forms and more and more pledges of support keep on coming in.

The first of two weekends saw everyone get out and at least start their 11 mile 'virtual leg' with a number of our players, coaches and their families even completing the full 11 miles and going on to do more!!!

Club Chairman Steve Giles said "These events can only be a success if everyone fully commits and we're blessed to have brilliant families involved with our club and the support of so many wonderful people in the local community. Even though we've had to run this whilst keeping within the current lockdown guidelines it really has felt like there's been a tremendous sense of togetherness and we look to be well on course to achieving our targets and have done something which everyone has enjoyed getting involved with."

All of our players will have completed their 11-mile leg by the end of Sunday 7th March when we'll then be gathering together the sponsor forms from all 31 players and totaling up the funds raised.

If you'd still like to sponsor any of our players then please make contact with their parents or you can contact the club be e-mailing info@kirkbywoodhousefc.co.uk or messaging us via our Facebook page.

We'd like to thank everyone for their kind support,
